MODEM’s activities are overseen by a Leadership Committee, who act as the charity’s Trustees. They are elected by members.

Jeremy is an Anglican minister working in Kirkby, Merseyside, a large post-war new town. Having changed role in 2012, he became aware of the gaps in his knowledge around leadership and management, so completed an MA in Christian Approaches to Leadership through Sarum College. While doing this, he became aware of the work of MODEM, and attended a couple of the annual conferences, at one of which he was surprised to find himself volunteering as MODEM Matters editor. He is particularly interested in understanding the emotional life of congregations, and the role that issues of anxiety and control play in making churches healthy places to be. A Brummy originally, he has been an adopted Scouser since 2004.

Val McKie
Val McKie is a Writer, Author, Coach and Public Speaker. She specialises in Conflict Resolution working with individuals and organisations to dissolve conflict both internally and externally. She has a passion for peace and a unique approach to her work. She became interested in MODEM after attending the bi-annual conference at Sarum College some years ago and supports the mission to encourage authentic dialogue to improve leadership in society. She has a Master Degree in Irish Studies, a BA (hons) in Applied Social Science. and is a qualified Behavioural Analyst. She was a Magistrate for seven years and is a member of the Institute of Directors and until recently was Chair of the British Acupuncture Federation.

Anthony Thorpe
Anthony is a researcher, author and lecturer in leadership and management. He has worked in the school, further education and university sectors. His interests include leadership and management in education and other contexts, organizational theory, human resource management and the links to social justice. With a degree in Theology followed by an MA and PhD in education, his interest in the interplay of theology and leadership studies drew him to attend the MODEM annual conferences through his connections with the Susanna Wesley Foundation at the University of Roehampton. He is interested in how the insights of critical realism can help to explore and question aspects of leadership in the wider context of the church, society and philosophy.
